About The Lionel Modular Group of DFW

Welcome to the Lionel Modular Group website. The Lionel Modular Group, formed in 1988, is a non-profit organization that normally meets the first Monday of the month. (no meetings in July and December)   A short business meeting is conducted, followed by members running their trains.

We are a friendly group of 3-rail O gauge and 3-rail Standard gauge model train enthusiasts, who collect and operate model trains from all eras. Lionel, K-Line, Weaver, Marx, and MTH, and other brands are represented in our members’ collections.

We operate Post War Lionel trains from our childhood to the newer Lionel Legacy, TMCC, Vision lines plus MTH Proto-sounds and MTH DCS equipment.

The main theme of our club is to run trains and promote our hobby at public venues.

The Lionel Modular Group adopted the new LCCA/Lionel FasTrack Modular Railroad components in 2013.  This was the vision of our past president Paul Hargis, who was instrumental by moving our club in this direction.  Our group has acquired and built 4 full corners and 14 straight modules.  There’s even a module with the famous Lionel Hell Gate Bridge on our Standard gauge loop. The club also has a Lift Module that allows easier access to the inside of the layout at shows.

Our Club’s layout has two loops of Lionel O gauge Fastrack and one loop of MTH Standard gauge track that supports all 3-rail O-gauge and Standard gauge trains from yesteryear to those made today.

Our new layout provides us with the flexibility to vary the size and shape of the layout to fit different venues and display more accessories.

When you attend an event or show, stop by and say hello to our members, bring a train to run with us and join our group of train enthusiasts.
